Miles Ratledge

Founder of Ashtanga Yoga Shala // 30+ years of experience with yoga forms // Authorized Ashtanga yoga teacher, Mysore, India // “Lead trainer” on the yoga education

I started practicing yoga and meditation in India in 1990. When I moved to Denmark, I experienced Iyengar yoga, which I was hooked on. I took many in-depth courses and have a 3-year education (certified in 2003). In 1996, I learned about Ashtanga yoga, which was a huge experience, as I saw greater potential in this form of yoga, both physically and mentally. Since then, Ashtanga yoga has been my life's path. I met the yoga master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 2002 in London and was subsequently in India at the source of Ashtanga yoga, Mysore, many times and have been authorized to teach there (kypaji 2010). I was the first to invite internationally renowned guest teachers to Aarhus and have taken a leading role in the growth of Ashtanga yoga in the region. In the last 19 years, I have taught thousands of beginners and advanced students, and the joy of learning from me is as great today as when I started.

Laila Elisabeth Møller-Rasmussen

25+ years of experience with yoga // Certified yoga teacher from Danish Yoga Education // Master of Arts in History of Ideas and Social Sciences from Aarhus University // Teacher of Yin/Hatha Yoga and Philosophy at the yoga education

I started practicing yoga more than 25 years ago. From the beginning, I was fascinated by Scandinavian Yoga (the Danish branch of Bihar School of Yoga). I love the meditative and philosophical approach to yoga, but also the idea that yoga is a practice, that makes us better at living life and feeling good; to use ourselves optimally for the benefit of ourselves and others. Gradually, I have completed several educations and workshops; first and foremost the 2-year Danish Yoga Education, the Mediyoga instructor education, the first year of the Ayurvedic treatment education with Charlotte Bech and a long series of shorter courses - and I am thoroughly educated in philosophy, anatomy, asana, pranayama, relaxation and meditation as well as Ayurveda. I have extensive experience in teaching differentiated, and it is important for me to organize the teaching based on the students' physical and mental starting point. I have taught both regular classes, students with chronic illnesses including chronic pain, students with stress, young people, children and families, as well as students with mental vulnerability. My yoga practice plays a big part in my life, and I am fascinated by how I and others can use yoga to handle the vicissitudes of life and find a deep state of inner silence and freedom, joy and peace.

Peter Coates

Instructor // 30+ years of experience with yoga forms // Trained in religious studies and as an educator // Teaches practical training and teaching techniques in yoga education

I started practicing yoga in Christchurch, New Zealand over 30 years ago. There I was trained in the Iyengar yoga tradition. I met the now famous author and yoga teacher Donna Farhi and helped write her first book The Breathing Book. After moving to Denmark in 1999, I met Miles, who introduced me to Ashtanga yoga. Through my training in different yoga traditions, I have developed my own practice that puts the student at the center. During my time in Denmark, I have helped many students embrace yoga, and I am very excited to continue the tradition at Ashtanga Yoga Shala. I have a bachelor's degree in religious studies from New Zealand and a bachelor's degree with a specialization in health and movement from the Peter Sabroe seminary (2012).
